    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

One of the great Commander owners from days-gone-by developed a kit for that and sought FAA approval for it. The FAA never granted approval, of course, but there are several prototype kits floating around out there, and many others have made their own - aka Home Depot plexiglass.

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

"Grandpa can you tell me the story about how you used to carry a 33 pound battery around in the back of your airplane again?"

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

That was the first thing I thought! I have no idea how it works, or if it even does. I'm just parroting what I was told. Could be just bs. The lithium chargers are cool though. About 10 percent the size and weight of the old school stuff.

Congratulations Pat! I think you just kicked off the never before discussed topic of ROP vs LOP operations:D:D :D:D

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

A standard charger will work in a pinch to get you started, and theoretically should be fine for extended periods because the battery itself has an internal management system. But, 1) I wouldn't recomend using a standard charger long term. The lithium charger,/maintainers have a management...

2 articles on the BeechTalk Newsletter; very interesting

The only really good thing about those Swamp Buggy Motors is when they stop running - all you have to do when that happens is shoot a hole in the bottom of the boat, and go get yourself a new one!

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

The battery has an internal management system that monitors several different parameters of the battery's health, heat, discharge rate, load, etc. If something is out of range the light will go on. If you have an amp, and volt meter, or better yet an engine monitor with volts and amps, you will...

    new gas spring door stays

They fit all models. Up to a 100fpm increase in climb. Some improvement in cruise also. The results are somewhat dependent on the quality of the install, and the way your flaps are adjusted. 10 - 40 hours installation time depending on the time spent on flap adjustment, and required paint work.

    new gas spring door stays

Oh boy! Look at that bent door. That's a big expensive ouch! Coulda been so easily avoided by installing gas spring door stays. $500, and 2 hours work. Too late now.

Landing at the NASA Shuttle Landing Facility

Are you suggesting that we should be segregated? Like having a smoking, and non-smoking section at the next fly- in?;)

Landing at the NASA Shuttle Landing Facility

Pat! Why didn't you have the smoke turned on???

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

Exactly, that would be easy, and it is only for reference anyway, You'd be monitoring amp, and volt gauges the same way you do now anyway.

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

There's no requirement on the placement of the indicator light, so no reason to run wire to the panel. The venting just goes out into the original battery box, which is already vented overboard, so no need do any custom plumbing. The battery fits into the original battery box so no need to do...

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

Hanger talk with buddies: "You wont believe how awesome this new gizmo is that I just bolted onto my airplane! It flys so much better now! I can't believe how cool it is" Conversation with FAA: "Oh that gizmo? It's ok - haven't really given it much thought. Works about the same as the old gizmo...

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

Hi Neal, I stand corrected here's the comparison chart from EarhX. It's difficult to do an apples to apples IC Ah comparison between a lead acid battery and a lithium battery because their discharge characteristics are so different. The lead acid battery may test higher but the discharge...

    New Partnership w/EarthX batteries

This is what every 112 owner needs. Maybe not the 114 owners, because they have more forward CG, and more power to compensate for weight, but every 112 needs this!
