Perhaps against my better judgment, I bought a project 112A, N1346J, this morning! It suffered from a gear up landing earlier this year, and is currently just outside of Houston, TX in Sugar Land at KSGR. If anyone happens to have a recommendation for a great A&P in that neck of the woods (who is unafraid of some sheet metal and structural work!) I’d love any and all recommendations.
I have about 15hrs in a Commander 114, absolutely love the aircraft, and have been casually perusing the market for a while. Most of my flights are solo, two hours or less, so the 112 made sense for me. I own a SeaRey for my local short-field (or lake) fun, and am based just north of Charlotte at NC05.
I bought the bird cheaply enough I could part it out without being in a terrible position - but my goal is to get it back in the air and fly it for some time to come. Easier said than done, but this will be my 2nd project airplane, perhaps just overly confident enough to get in over my head. We will see how it goes!
I’ll keep everyone updated with progress… and suspect I will be a frequent flyer in the maintenance section (after some searching, of course).
