    AirVenture 2025

I’ll be there in some capacity, driving or flying. I have much of it off work, wait a bit to see what the weather brings.

Follow the Sand, Local Beach Flight

I don’t think I have any pictures on here, but a few years ago the son and I flew around much of the Lake Michigan shoreline. We headed down towards Michigan City Indiana, then up the East side at 2-4000’ AGL all the way to the Pictured Rocks shoreline in the U.P., Lake Superior. We did stop at...

    Commander Accident

Maybe a ‘student’ in some other form, or a rating? I had read that he did have an instrument rating. I didn’t delve into all the details.

    Commander Accident

Very sorry to hear about such an accident. At the risk of being labeled an armchair QB, one really has to evaluate the host of factors before a flight. I read he was instrument rated, we can go into recency of experience, and currency. Then we have the 50 year old airplane, single engine, also...

    Wash and Wax, Spa Day

I’m in bad need of a wash before cooler temps set in, today is the day. I think I’ll even bring a step ladder. I have some ‘no water wash’ then bring some water in 5 gallon buckets. The temps are forecast a little above 70. I think the inside needs some shop-vac action also.

    Bald Eagle Encounter

A few years ago I saw an eagle at about 3000’ AGL, not an extreme close call. I know it also wasn’t all that high, but most avian hazards are lower. At least an eagle is kinda big. I’ve flown by flocks of geese, often they are near 1000’ AGL, they don’t adhere to hemispheric flying rules &...

    Renewal of membership

I may have to resort to the check also.

    Much needed air therapy

Cape May? Reminds me of the Coast Guard. The son graduated there not to long ago, yes I went.

    Savannah, GA. info

There’s a Navy reunion the last week of July there, yes I should go. I’ve just been through a time or 2, not explored any. I’m kinda new to Charleston, been there a few times in recent years. I know it’s a ways away, kinda nice though.

    The Eclipse!!

This guy was getting called on guard every few minutes. It seems he flew the Chicago lakefront while the presidential TFR was very active. One of those cases where a subscription to G.P. or Foreflight would pay for itself in short order. Yes I know, or check Notams ahead of time. I’d think...

    Cicadas

There are Cicadas here a good bit. One thing about them, besides the noise, they seem kinda harmless. I don’t like ticks, most mosquitoes not much better. Down South Chiggers can be very annoying. Just saying, I can think of worse than the noise of Cicadas.

    April 8th $100 Eclipse

I went today, posted in the ‘Today’s Adventure’ section. It was worth it to me, I just did the airborne thing, didn’t land near the centerline.

    The Eclipse!!

I flew to the eclipse today, my plan was both detailed and extremely flexible. That is flexible up to not going, zero reservations, weather dependent. From SE WI, the closest to the center, (assured good weather) was the IN/OH line, just East of Muncie, IN. I stopped at Starke, CO airport, about...
