• Greetings - thanks for posting your experience with Garmin on the GFC500 process. I'm pretty sure you'd post any new information as soon as it's available, but I'm in the process of buying a 115 and am really keen to know that I'm going to be able to replace the original King system currently installed...please forgive my impatience. Have you heard anything new from Garmin that might suggest when the official announcement might be made? Many thanks.

I have a 1993 Commander 114B I met with avionics guy yesterday and he said the STC is complete along with manuals, all that is needed is the FAA to sign off. Estimated time 5/30/2022.

    Hi guys.

Sorry I have not been allowed to post anything to my gfc 500 thread in a few months. I have emailed the cog administrator numerous times to find out why I am blocked from viewing and posting on the thread I started. I can only assume he does not like Garmin products and is a chicken sh-t for not replying to me as I have emailed numerous time to find out why. Obviously very Mickey Mouse!!
This is the latest I received from Garmin.

    to me

    Hi Matt,

The short answer is that the 114s will have to wait for the 112TC program to finish up – which just completed development testing and is now ready for certification – expected in May.

The long answer is back to the topic of this Delrin cable guard. Our team found that some Commanders need this guard and some do not – yours didn’t. They made the decision to require this guard on all of the Commander install kits. They also didn’t “certify” this guard with the initial 114 cert – which is why it is waiting for the 112TC to finish up with certification. Not the way I would’ve done things but I don’t get to make that call.

The 112TC is now entering the certification phase and should wrap up here in the month of May.

I know Commander owners are chomping at the bit and I do apologize for keeping them waiting. It’s closer rather than farther away.

    Max
