That's what scares me - all we need is for this guy to have a gear collapse or some other easily avoidable calamity and start blasting a bunch of nonsense about Commanders.

It can be carbon fiber, or fiberglass. My fiberglass technician has over 30 years experience. He built the original Lancair kits when he was in his 20's. Now he does land speed record cars, rocket drag cars, off road racing trucks, custom track racing cars, camera equipment for Hollywood, still...

Nothing specific. There's just a lot of mechanics out there these days that only look at what they're paid to look at. They overlook landing gear issues, fuel delivery issues, exhaust issues - sometimes simple things that can cause big problems, and Commanders are foreign to them, so they don't...

Wish he'd bring that plane down here so I could look at it, or at least have his mechanic call. I'd hate to see a high profile guy like that have an accident that could have been easily avoided by a simple walk around.

Yes, I have a mold to make new cowlings. I've done 5 of them so far. They're universal, made to fit either a 112, or 114, so they require a lot of extra work for each specific application. Also have gear doors for all models.

Yes, I agree. The cold does have a negative affect on the performance of lithium batteries, but I figure most would do as you do and pre heat their planes. If not, lead acid is still an option.

I didn't know it was a problem? I've started mine below 32f. I suppose there are those that fly well below that, but that brings with it a lot of other challenges, so not sure the battery would be your first concern:-)

I agree. Good to have on hand. I have to say though, as the first to install the EarthX, it'll be 6 years in December, except during gear swings at annual, I've NEVER, connected it to a battery charger/maintainer.
