Lonnie Steverson, N4959W
"N4959W was found in a hangar by my father in 1989
in Bogalusa, LA. My Mom and dad had been in love with Commanders all
their life. 59W had not been flown in 7 or 8 years. It needed a lot of
work just to get it air worthy. After we got her ready, my dad flew it
back to our hangar in Prentiss, MS. We then had our Body shop people and
a local A&P take the plane apart and start the refurbishment. We had the
AD on the wingspar done and all the other AD's on it. "I rode bulls professionally on the PBR tour you see on TNN and now on OLN. I usually Flew 59W to most of the events east of the Rockies. I have been from Miami, FL all the way to Thief River Falls, MN close to the Canadian boarder. I love 59 W with all my heart because every time I get in her I think of my Father and I flying when I was younger. I am 32 years old and have 2800 hours and 2700 of them are in 59W. I got my license in Dec. of 94 and my instrument rating in 95.' A lot of things have changed in my life since I posted this Years ago. I have retired from riding bulls due to the fact of breaking instead of bouncing which comes with age in the life of a bull rider. I still fly my commander a lot in the business my father started and my mother kept in operation after my fathers death. Our Business is Circle S Inc. and we employ about 85 - 90 people and our business is focused around industrial maintenance such as sandblasting, painting, hydroblasting, insulation, and scaffolding. The airplane is a valuable tool at times, but also costly at times too, as you all know. If it was not for the business use it would be hard to justify owing it, oh what the hell I love flying and would figure out a way to keep the thing anyway. I have added a lot of equipment such as the JPI edm 700 engine analyzer, Gamin 530 GPS with xm weather. I now have two beautiful little daughters Cali 4 years old and Kenzi 22 months as of 6-06. The girls like to fly and will both be pilots in the future. Kenzi points up in the air at every airplane that fly's over and says Daddy's plane.
My wonderful wife Joann and I fly with the girls to
various places, but one in particular a favorite place is Gulf Shores,
AL. We like to go eat at Lu Lu's which is right by the airport. It's a
good place to eat and a nice get away for us. I still keep the plane in
Prentiss, MS and it is maintained by Joel and Woody Wilson of Wilson
Aviation. My last annual was done at Commander Premier by Mark Standrich.
He is a Commander expert and did a wonderful job and I was also the very
first customer of the new service center in the Cape. I also own a self
service credit card fuel system at Prentiss, MS (M43). If ever passing
threw MS stop by for cheap fuel. Check us out at Airnav.com.
